Expat Psychologist The Hague
English-speaking psychological support for expats, diplomats, and international professionals in The Hague
The Hague — a city built on international life.
Few cities in the world have as many embassies, international organization’s, and global institutions packed into one place as The Hague. Since 2009, Expat Psychologist has been supporting the people who make up this international community — the original practice in the Netherlands dedicated entirely to expat mental health.
Our team in The Hague offers individual therapy, couples counselling, ADHD and ASD assessments, and psychological support tailored to the realities of life as an expat, diplomat, or international professional. Many of our clients work for embassies, international organisations, or global companies — and many are also students, partners, and family members navigating a move that wasn’t entirely their own.
We are mental health professionals working from an evidence-based, compassionate approach — combining professional training with genuine understanding of what it means to build a life abroad.
Who we work with in The Hague
The Hague’s international community is unlike anywhere else in the Netherlands. We regularly work with: Embassy and diplomatic staff adjusting to postings — and the unique pressures of representing a country while building a personal life abroad. International organization employees (UN, ICC, OPCW, and similar institutions) navigating demanding roles alongside expat life
Partners and family members of diplomats and international staff, who often face their own adjustment challenges — sometimes without the structure a posting provides. International students at universities and institutions in and around The Hague. Professionals relocated by global companies, NGOs, and consultancies.
Whatever brings you here, our approach is the same: evidence-based, confidential, and shaped around your situation — not a generic template.
What we offer in The Hague
Our Hague practice provides individual therapy for anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, and life transitions; couples therapy for relationships under the particular strain of international life; ADHD, ASD, and other psychological assessments; and support for international students adjusting to study and life abroad.
Sessions are available in English, and other languages. In-person appointments take place at our office in The Hague, and online sessions are available for those who prefer them or are based elsewhere.
A practice built on understanding
Many of us at Expat Psychologist have lived the expat experience ourselves — the adjustment, the loneliness that can creep in even in a city as international as The Hague, and the particular weight of representing your country or organisation while quietly figuring out your own life. We bring that understanding into every session, alongside professional training grounded in evidence-based care.
If something feels off, or you’re navigating a transition and could use someone to talk to — we’re here.
