The team behind Expat Psychologist the Netherlands
Expat Experts — because understanding expat life takes more than a textbook. We’re a multidisciplinary team of psychologists and support staff, many of whom have lived the expat experience ourselves — across different countries, languages, and life stages. That’s not incidental to how we work; it shapes it. We combine rigorous, evidence-based psychology with genuine lived understanding of what it means to build a life somewhere new.
Across everything we do, a few things matter to us: we’re in it together. We’re accountable to you, and we show up — rain, hail, or shine — in our clients’ corner, working towards the best possible care. We invest in the therapeutic relationship and do what’s right by our clients and our team.
Teamwork makes the difference. Every person is different, and there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all care. We work closely together as a multidisciplinary team so that whatever you need, you’re matched with the right person and the right approach.
Evidence matters: our work is grounded in established, research-backed methods — including CBT and EMDR — applied with flexibility and tailored to each client’s situation, not delivered as a fixed program.
How “Expat Psychologist” began
In 2009, our founder Taisia Slobodjaniuk started the first practice in the region dedicated entirely to the mental health of expats and internationally mobile people — recognizing that the experience of living abroad comes with its own particular pressures, ones that general therapy services weren’t always built to address. That practice has grown into what we are today, but the founding idea hasn’t changed: expats deserve psychological support that actually understands expat life.
